Vivitar Macro 70mm to 150mm

If you keep up with this blog, you might have read of my experimentation with old lenses and a new DSLR. I currently have the Sony A7R. For this test, I decided to use the Vivitar Macro 70mm-150mm lens to test its features. I purchased a cheap $14 Konica-NEX adapter from eBay and purchased the lens for $15.25 including S&H.

The first thing I noticed about this lens is how heavy it is. Like most of the old lens, they are made of dense hard mental. These days, lenses are made of aluminum or plastic casing.
Since the lens is long and heavy, it is better used with a tripod. I shot the Trumpet flower with my hands and settings on manual with shutter priority. I don’t have the most stable hands. So I need a quick shutter so I don’t get motion blur in my photos.
Below you will see the original photos and just below each original is the edited photo. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know.
